Henna’ed drum art by Sage Cox

This 14″ djembe underwent several stages of henna application before it was complete. The owner had requested two ingredients: a tree of life inspired design incorporated with two of his runic guides place somewhere within the design, I try to incorporate a lot of depth and alternate imaging into these as I can… because that’s what makes life interesting. 

The final result ended with a nice deep mahogany stain.

This is the first stage of the drum I am working on. It’ll be nicely layered and shaded when I’m done. Can’t wait smile emoticon

Adding another layer of henna to the djembe.

This is the 5th layer of henna for this 14″ drum head

Very deep shades of Mahogany from the last henna stain. Some of the henna paste is still stuck to the head, so I think it still looks a bit darker brown than it will after he has had a chance to play it and get all the paste off of it.
