Henna

Atlanta Henna Arm Band

Henna (Lawsonia Inermis) is a woody shrub that thrives in hot and arid climates such as the Mediterranean regions of Asia and Northern Africa. The leaves of the henna plant are harvested, dried, and then ground into a fine powder. A paste is the made from this green powder using safe and natural ingredients.atlanta henna powder

This tradition dates back as far as Ancient Egypt. Henna has been trusted for hair & body for thousands of years. Further reading on the henna plant and it’s origins can be found Here

Henna designs can take anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour and up to apply. Application time varies depending on the intricacy of the design. The paste takes roughly 15 minutes to dry to the touch and should be left on the skin for several hours in order to achieve a good stain.

After removal of the paste, a henna design will last any where from 1 up to 3 weeks depending on where the design is placed on the body as well as exfoliation and aftercare. Roughly 2 weeks is the typical lifespan of a henna design. The stain is darkest on the hands and feet and lightest on the face.

Our henna paste does not contain any harsh chemicals and should not be confused with “black henna”, which is a term used to describe some of the various chemical-containing products being sold for use as henna. For more information on the dangers of using “black henna” please check the link at the bottom of this page.
